Club Montemar, Moraira, Costa Blanca, Spain

The Costa Blanca region of Spain has one of the best climates in the world according to the World Health organization, enjoying over 300 days of sunshine every year. One of the most beautiful towns in the Costa Blanca is Moraira. Nestling between the mountains and the sea, the wonderful climate of this specific area boasts an average yearly temperature of 18°C with very little rainfall and crystal clear waters.

Spanish fiestas are an important tourist attraction, an integral part of life and most have a religious or historical motive.

The largest fiesta is the Moors & Christians, which is held the second weekend in June.

The history of Spanish occupation is celebrated by the week long Moors & Christians fiesta. Theatrically presented in impressive costumes often costing thousands of euros each, the village is divided into Moorish and Christian (groups), and hold marches and mock battles that take place at various times and places throughout the village including a spectacular battle on the main Platja de l'Ampolla beach. The high point of this fantastic fiesta is the firework display and procession on the last day.

Moraira is a tourist resort nestled on the coastline inbetween Javea and Calpe with Benissa and Jalon slightly inland behind it. Not so long ago it was a small fishing village fishing village with stunning views from the landmark El Portet point across to El Peñon de Ifach, the famous rock of Calpe. its main function now is tourism whilst retaining much of the charm which has long attracted visitors and foreign residents. With no high rise buildings allowed and strict policies on building etc it is a stunning mix of international cuisine, year round fiestas and miles of pristine white sandy beaches.

Moraira's main beach Platja de l'Ampolla is situated on the coast at the center of town. From here you can hire pedalos or jetskis. Just behind the beach is some of Moraira's best restaurants and nightlife. Another local beach is Platja del Portet which is more relaxed,. This is one of the best spots you could ever wish for with golden sand, turquoise waters and a few little café bars overlooking the beach. There are numerous other beaches and many small secluded beaches which are very popular with the locals.

For nights out why not try Cafe Del Mar or Algas bar. Both are sitting right on the coastline only 20mts from the Mediterranean and a small beach in front where the kids can play under your supervision.
